Claire I. Jost, 65, of Merrill, passed away, with her family by her side, Tuesday December 4, 2012 at the CVPH Medical Center in Plattsburgh. She was born in Jamaica, New York on December 12, 1946 daughter of the late William and Louise (Scheuerlein) Jost. Claire was a veteran serving in the US Army. She worked as a Guidance councilor for New York State Department of Corrections and tax preparer for many years. Claire enjoyed reading, philanthropy, gardening, crafting, bowling, golfing, skiing and traveling the world. She was a loving daughter, sister, aunt, friend and scholar. Claire is survived by her brother Jeff Jost of Verona Beach, NY, three sisters; Karen Carrier of East Islip, NY, Roberta Flynn of New Bern, NC and Margaret Porter of Bohemia, NY. She is also survived by four nieces, four nephews, three grand nieces, one grand nephew and numerous lifelong friends. Funeral Services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
