Clarence J. Phillips

Clarence J. Phillips, 93, of Water Street in Elizabethtown passed away peacefully on Thursday, July16, 2020. He was born in Whallonsburg, New York on April 29, 1927 son of the late Marshall and Maude (James) Phillips.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be missed every day. He was a member of the American Legion Post 551 for 72 years; he was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and Elizabethtown Fish and Game Club. He was a World War 2 veteran. Clarence loved the outdoors; he spent many years as a logger and loved his profession. He was an advid Ford Bronco fan and enjoyed his nightly PBR’s!
Clarence’s wife, Rita, predeceased him in 2015. He is survived by his children; Patti Phillips, Elizabeth Phillips, Michelle (Kenneth) Lansburg, Marshall (Cindi) Phillips, Keenan Phillips, Brian (Wendy) Phillips and his sister, Virginia Cross, his grandchildren; Shannon Gibson, Kerry (Ransom) Schafer, Patrick Phillips, Ashley Phillips, Joshua Martineau, Tucker (Erin Murphy) Lansburg, Kristen Lansburg, Olivia Phillips, Claire Phillips and Samantha Phillips, his great grandchildren; Solomon Gibson, Owen Gibson, Carson Lansburg, Kennedy Lansburg and Agatha Schafer. He is also survived by special nieces Carol (Philip) Dickerson and Linda (Larry) Brown and a nephew, Jimmy (Betty) Phillips. He is predeceased by siblings; Norman, Norma, Roy, Liz, Beatrice and Marshall. His family would like to acknowledge special friends Rusty and Barbara Denton, Carrie Decker, Walt and Jane Shoureck, Joe Jacobs and Claude and Sonja Aubin.
Services and burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
Donations in his memory may be made to the American Legion Boquet Valley Post 551, PO Box 476, Elizabethtown, NY 12932 or the State University of New York at Plattsburgh Alzheimer’s Disease Caregiver Support Initiative.
