Edgar (Ed) Christian Widmann, 88, of Lewis, NY, formerly of Leonardo, NJ, passed away on February 1, 2016 in Elizabethtown, NY after a brief illness. Ed was born in Bronx, NY on December 3, 1927. Upon his discharge from the Army, he returned to Leonardo, New Jersey where he and his father owned and operated Christian Widmann and Son Jewelers until his retirement in 1998. Upon his retirement, Ed settled in his mountain home in the Adirondacks, NY, which he custom built in 1979 after purchasing land from Henry and Thelma Goff on the top of their mountain. In addition to his love for the Adirondacks, Ed was an avid woodworker and artist and was a trainer/owner of Doberman Pinschers winning many medals at the dog shows at the old Madison Square Garden III in the 1950’s and 1960’s.

Ed was predeceased by his parents Christian Widmann, in 1969 and Karoline Widmann, in 1970, his sister Ella Schneider, in 1999 and his niece, Anita Sangiorgi, in 2004. He is survived by his former wife and mother of his children, Dolores E. Widmann, of Lakewood, NJ, his companion, Dorothy Waltz, of Griswold, CT, a nephew, Howard Schneider of Fountain Hills, AZ and his cousins, John (Carol) Link of Warminster, PA and Irmgard (Fritz) Zwirnmann of Greentown, PA.

He is survived by his children, Christian Widmann of Fort Worth, TX and his daughter and son in-law, Diana and Christopher Welch and his four grandchildren, Austin Welch of Dallas, TX and Morgan, Zachary and Lance Welch, all of Colts Neck, NJ.

Ed is also survived by his dear friends, Philip (Carolyn) Goff Sr., Lewis, NY and Anthony (Janet) Politi, Willsboro, NY and their children Samuel and Olivia.

For those of you that had the pleasure of knowing Ed, he was a man’s man, a man amongst men and just a great guy who lived life to the fullest. He was a man of great wisdom, integrity, honor, character, heart and he ran his business with a handshake and did it right.
