Elizabeth H. Alden

January 18, 1932 — March 25, 2018

Elizabeth Hayes Alden, 86, of Lake Shore Drive, Willsboro, NY went into the arms of the Lord on Sunday, March 25, 2018, at her home on Lake Champlain surrounded by her family. She was born in Corner Brook, Newfoundland, Canada, the daughter of the late Nellie and Joseph Hayes.
Elizabeth was a retired Assistant Director of Nursing from Westmount Health Facility, where she worked for twenty years. Elizabeth was a lover of all outdoor activities and enjoyed being outside whenever possible. She adored her family and enjoyed her new found friends in St. Augustine, Florida.
Survivors include her loving companion of eleven years, Thomas McDermott; her children Theresa Cardinell and husband Robert of Queensbury; John J Alden and wife Cathy and her only grandchild Ashley Alden and her fiancé Joseph Murphy; of Willsboro, Patrick Alden and his wife Susan of South Glens Falls. Survivors in Newfoundland, Canada are: her sisters Bernice Gallant, Eva McCarthy, and her brother Joseph Hayes, as well as many of her extended family. Besides her parents, she is predeceased by her sister, Helen Gallant, her husband John D. Alden, and her son Allan Michael Alden.
The family would like to thank the Oncology Department at Elizabethtown Community Hospital for their compassion and understanding during this very difficult time.
At Elizabeth's request there will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Philip Of Jesus Catholic Church in Willsboro, at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Philip of Jesus Catholic Church, 3748 Main St., Willsboro, NY 12996.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 7521 Court Street, Elizabethtown.
