Gene L. Armstrong Jr. Obituary - Visitation & Funeral Information

Gene L. Armstrong, Jr., 79, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, Sunday November 29, 2020 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. Gene was born in Ridgway, Pennsylvania on July 21, 1941, the oldest son of Gene L. Armstrong, Sr. and Eva (Gardner) Armstrong of Emporium, Pennsylvania. Gene married Karen A. Burnell on May 14, 1966 in Plattsburgh, New York where he resided until his death. After graduating from high school in Cameron County, Pennsylvania, Gene enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served from 1961 to 1965. Shortly after being discharged from the Air Force, Gene worked for New York State Electric & Gas (NYSEG) as a Lineman until his retirement in August 1999. With his wife Karen, Gene owned and operated Auntie’s Ceramics for several years. Gene is survived by one son Joey and daughter in law Lisa of Princetown, NY, one sister Mary and Robert Melzer, four brothers, Tom and Sue Armstrong, Ronald Armstrong, Robert Armstrong and Larry Armstrong and several cousins, nieces and nephews. Gene was predeceased by his parents and his wife. At Gene’s request services will be private and at the convenience of the family. In Lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hannah’s Hope for GAN at 19 Blue Jay Way, Rexford, NY 12148 or the Turnpike Wesleyan Church, 2224 Military Turnpike, Plattsburgh, NY 12901.
