Glenn A. Estus

d. November 17, 2021

Glenn A. Estus of Westport NY passed on to his eternal home on Wednesday, November 17, 2021 at the UVM Medical Center in Burlington, Vt. He was predeceased by his parents Homer and Joyce Keith Estus and a brother Larry Estus. Glenn left behind his brother Bruce Estus of Westport his Aunt Aileen Estus Donnan and first cousins Barb Prime, Joan Fitzgerald, John Jerdo, Althea LaDieu, Brian Estus, Cindy Estus, and Mark Estus et.al.
Please join us on Tuesday, November 23rd at the Westport Federated Church for visitation and reminiscence from 9 to 11 A.M. followed by the service at 11. Folks will be encouraged to share memories of Glenn and following the service he will be interred at the Black River Cemetery in Westport.
Glenn was a valued member of his hometown of Westport and the North Country. A teaching career at Elizabethtown Central School left Glenn with many friends, teachers and students, alike. Glenn thought he wanted to teach history until he taught 4th grade, and later in his teacher career branched out to computer arts. Following retirement he kept extremely busy with his award winning photography, his music, and philately. Bruce tells us that he began his stamp collecting at the age of 12. Glenn also had a keen interest in local and Olympic history and was always ready to share.
Glenn sang with many choral groups throughout the north country but rarely missed a session of the Pleasant Valley Chorale. He joined the first year the chorale formed and continued to the time of his passing. His strong tenor voice was a mainstay in choral pieces and a beautiful solo instrument no matter the genre of music being performed. Additionally, Glenn served as organist for many churches but best enjoyed serving as organist for his home church, Westport Federated Church.
Through his medical challenges Glenn remained a devoted and caring son to his mom and dad. He cared for their medical issues, took them out to dinner and even made sure Joyce was able to have her hair done weekly. He was kind, caring, talented, devoted, responsible, and upbeat. If you didn’t know him you really missed out. What a guy!
Many thanks to all who are supporting Bruce at this time and to Jennifer Moore, The Federated Church Choir, Pleasant Valley Chorale, and Pastor Nick Charlton. We were especially impressed with the doctors and staff who cared for Glenn at UVM and are ever grateful to the Westport Fire Department and Rescue Squad. The Rescue Squad will gratefully accept memorial donations in Glenn’s name.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 7521 Court Street, Elizabethtown.
