Helen Smith, 80, of Keene, passed away on August 12th, 2019 at Adirondack Medical Center after a battle with cancer. Helen was born in Lake Placid on May 2, 1939, daughter of the late Francis and Isabel (Barry) Fisk.
Helen married Leroy E. Smith who passed away on March 27, 2018. Helen and Leroy were married for 54 years. They enjoyed their retirement by becoming snow birds, spending winter months at their home in Sebring Florida and summers in the Adirondacks.
Surviving family members include son David, his wife, Rana, their children Ryan, Tyler and Miranda; her daughter Davina, her husband Scott Winemiller, and her children Jaron and Garrett Fox Thurston. Helen’s surviving siblings include Nancy Smith, Francis Fisk Jr, William Fisk and Robert Fisk. Helen left behind several in-laws including Joseph Smith, Linda Fisk and Marie-Amyee Fisk, Beverly, Bonnie and Mildred Smith; as well as many relatives and friends. Helen had a special bond with her loyal nephews Raymond Pat and Randy Leclair. She is predeceased by her brother Charles Fisk.
A graveside service will be held on Saturday, September 14th, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Norton Cemetery in Keene, NY. A reception to follow will be held at the Keene Community Center. Arrangements are entrusted to Heald Funeral Home in Elizabethtown.
Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the Keene Volunteer Fire Department.
