Joseph P. Chancey

Joseph P. Chancey, 94, of 1186 Goldsmith Road, Sugarbush, passed away on Dec. 17, 2017, at Elderwood of Uihlein nursing home in Lake Placid.
He was born in Detroit, Michigan, on Oct. 4, 1923, to Grace Champine (Chancey).
Joseph was raised in Detroit, Michigan, and lived in Ocala, Florida, where he was an eucharistic minister at Queen of Peace Catholic Church. Joseph was a very caring and giving man. He was the first milkman in Detroit to dress up as Santa Claus for the Twin Pines Milk Company and played Santa for 54 years. He will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
Joseph is survived by his wife Margaret of Sunrise Assisted Living Home in Columbia, Maryland; his children: twin daughters Karen Kortier and her companion Harvey, Sharon Holder and her husband Don, both of Cape Coral, Florida, Linda Carrow of Sugarbush, with whom he resided, two sons: Brian and his companion Shirley of Sun City, Arizona, and Claude Webb and his wife Sandy of Rochester, Minnisota; four grandsons; three granddaughters; several great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; also several nieces and nephews. He also has a special adopted daughter, Jackie Hamilton, who always made him laugh and brightened his day.
Joseph is predeceased by his parents Grace and Arthur Soullier; his two sisters: Rita and June; his previous wives: Virginia Wheeler LaRouche and Connie Webb Chance; and a daughter Carol (Webb) Wilson.
We would like to thank all the nurses, aides and volunteers who took care of him these last two years.
A memorial service will be held at noon Friday, Dec. 29 at Elderwood of Uihlien at Lake Placid.
