Lance Wilson, 73, of Route 3 Cadyville and Port Richey, FL., passed away Thursday August 30, 2012 at his home with his loving family by his side. He was born in Redford on August 4, 1939 son of Henry and Esther (Jacobsen) Wilson. Lance graduated from Saranac High in 1957. He joined the US Navy in July of 1957, serving on the USS Ticonderoga and based in San Diego, CA.. After his discharge in 1960 he worked as a Geotechnical Engineer for the area Missile Sites. Lance went to work at Clinton Correctional Facility as a driver for the Industrial Department. He worked several positions retiring as Senior Industrial Superintendent with 31 years of service. Lance was the assistant coach and score keeper for his son’s baseball career. He was a member of Dannemora VFW Post # 1514, serving as Outstanding Quarter master from 1972 to 1977. He then Transferred to VFW Post # 125 in Plattsburgh with Life Membership. Lance was an avid golfer, reader, and enjoyed traveling and day trips to the local beaches. His family was priority one. Lance is survived by his wife the former Lana O’Connell, whom he married July 7, 1962 in the Cadyville Wesleyan Church, celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary last month, his mother Esther Wilson of West Chazy, his son Lance Todd Wilson and his wife Jenifer of North Chesterfield, VA., his siblings; Henry J. Wilson and his wife Rita of Redford, Frederick Wilson and his wife Kathy of Dallas, TX., Larry Wilson and his wife Karen of Cadyville, three grandchildren; Alexandra “Allie” Wilson, Ian Todd Wilson and Emily Brunson. He is also survived by his sister in law Linda O’Connell-Reyell and her husband Francis “Buzz” and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He is predeceased by his father, and two brothers; Charles and Jeffery. A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM Saturday September 1, 2012 at Cadyville Wesleyan Church in Cadyville. Burial will follow in the Cadyville Protestant Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Lance’s memory to Hospice of the North Country. Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
