Leona Crowningshield

August 12, 1946 — January 2, 2013

KEENE VALLEY — Leona Katherine Crowningshield, 66, unexpectedly passed into the arms of her Savior on Jan. 2, 2013. She was born August 12, 1946, in Jay, N.Y.; the daughter of Ralph and Alice (McDonald) Adams.
Leona's greatest joy in life was spending time with her daughters and grandchildren. She loved her daughters more than life itself. She took special pride and joy in all ten of her grandchildren and their accomplishments; and more recently was blessed with two great grandchildren. The only thing that could distract her from her family was the "Blue Suede Shoes" man, Elvis, who was a definite icon in her life, she took delight in collecting everything she could of his.
Leona was a devoted employee for over 40 years at the Keene Valley Hospital and the Keene Valley Neighborhood House. She was a conscientious and hard worker who poured her life into the lives of the residents there. Leona was looking forward to retirement, but God had other plans and instead promoted her to heaven.
She was a very selfless person who always put others before herself. She will be sadly missed but never forgotten by all those who knew her and loved her.
Leona is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Tina (Daniel) Fenton of AuSable Forks, N.Y.; Donna Crowningshield (Barry LaFountain) of Keene, N.Y. She is also survived by her ten wonderful grandchildren-they were her world: Daniel, Michael, Eric, Jennifer & Chris, Joshua, Kaitlyn, Derick, and Brandon & Molly and her two great-grandchildren: Blake and Sophia. Additional survivors include her mother, Alice Adams and siblings; Ralph Adams, Eric Adams and Madeline Senecal and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Donald Crowningshield and father, Ralph Adams.
Family will be receiving guests from 1 to 2 P.M. Sunday, Jan. 6 at the Keene Valley Congregational Church. A celebration of her life will be held at 2 P.M. Burial will follow immediately at the Jay Cemetery.
Memorial donations in her memory may be made to Little Peaks Preschool, Inc, PO Box 261, Keene, NY, 12942, or to Gideons International, PO Box 524, Peru, NY, 12972.
