Mary V. Whitney

Mary V. Whitney 86, of Keene, NY passed away on Friday September 13, 2019 at Elizabethtown Community Hopsital. She was born in Au Sable Forks on August 18, 1933 daughter of the late Homer and Madeline Wright (Rhino).
She married Reginald J. “Reg” Whitney Sr. of Keene, NY and together had eight children. Mary and Reg owned and ran the diner at the foot of spruce hill in front of where the Notorious Red Barn stood. In the early sixties they move to the Sibley farmhouse on Alstead Hill where she lived out the rest of her days. After raising her children Mary took a job with Champlain National Bank in Keene and eventually retired.
One of fourteen Mary is predeceased by Dorothy, LaVerna, Tish, Wallace, Robert, Paul, Janice, Maude, Goldie and Evelyn. She is survived by sisters Ann, Carol and Roberta. She is also predeceased by her husband Reginald (2008), Daughter Joyce (2018) and infant son Jeremy (1975).
Mary is survived by her children Michael/Joanne, Patrick/Susan, Timothy, Amy/Jeff, Jody/Carolyn, and Reggie/Ann. She has eight grandchildren and twelve great grand children.
A mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11:00 AM Thursday September 19, 2019 at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, with Rev. John Yonkovig officiating. Burial will follow in the Norton Cemetery in Keene. Donations in Mary’s memory may be made to the Keene EMS.
