Philip M. “Muggsy” Favro, 80, of Route 3 in Cadyville, passed away Wednesday April 17, 2013 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Cadyville on November 4, 1932 son of the late Perley and Sadie (Tormey) Favro. Muggsy was a devoted husband, beloved father, grandfather, great grandfather uncle and friend. He will be missed and remembered by numerous foster children that he and his wife cared for over the years. He served in the US Navy, as a Medic, during the Korean Conflict. He worked as an Accountant for several local companies. Muggsy enjoyed hunting, hiking, kayaking, and many other outdoor activities. He will especially be remembered for his love of sports. Muggsy coached and umpired for almost 50 years throughout the North Country. He was most known for his big smile, his firm handshake and his well known response; “When my feet hit the ground this morning, I knew it was going to be a great day, and if the sun was shining that’s a bonus” . Muggsy is survived by his wife, the former Jane Nelson of Cadyville whom he married on August 5, 1956 at Our Lady Of Victory Church in Plattsburgh, his children; Lorri Favro and her fiancé Tom Douglas of West Chazy, Larry Favro and his wife Tracy of Lancaster, PA., Lanny Favro and his fiancé Terri Randle of Cadyville, Lisa Berglund and her husband William of East Greenbush, his grandchildren; Ashlee Favro, Bradley Favro, Olivia Favro, Cole Berglund, one great grandchild, his siblings; Theresa Gillette of Nevada, Beverly Stevens and her husband Tom of West Sand Lake, Ralph Favaro and his wife Gerry of West Chazy, Tormey Favro and his wife Sophie of Keeseville. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by his sisters; Marion, Doris, Phyllis, his brothers; Donald, Morris and Wayne. At his request, there will be no calling hours. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday April 21, 2013 at 2:00 PM from the Cadyville Wesleyan Church in Cadyville. A continuation of Muggsy’s life will follow at the Saranac Central High School Gym. Burial will be private and at the convenience of the family.
