Shane Russell Smith

Shane Russell Smith, age 25, of Elizabethtown passed away on June 24, 2017. He was born in Plattsburgh, NY on April 25, 1992 to the late Michael E. Smith and Constance M. (Barrows) Smith of Elizabethtown. He graduated in 2010 from Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School and attended Clinton Community College in Plattsburgh.
At the time of his death, Shane was employed by the University of Vermont Health Network - Elizabethtown Community Hospital as an ER Tech. He had been a volunteer firefighter with the Lewis Fire Department, he had worked for Lamoille Ambulance Service and he was an EMT. All of which brought him much joy. He was most happy when he was working or when he was hunting, fishing or attending car shows.
Shane is survived by his mother, Connie; his brother, Brian (Amanda) of Keeseville and his sister, Leslie of Elizabethtown. He also leaves behind his maternal grandmother, Lillian Barrows of Orange City, FL; his uncles, Truman Barrows of Crown Point, Ben Barrows of Florida, William (MaryEllen) Smith of Queensbury; his cousins, Clinton Barrows, Christina Barrows, Karen Brown, Kari (Jim) Ratliff, Kathi (John) Gereau, Matt (Jacquie) Smith, Doug Smith and Greg (Kaari) Smith; Kaleigh Ratliff (Paul Snodgrass) and Cooper (Sarah) Sayward. He was predeceased by his father, Mike Smith; his maternal grandfather Richard Barrows; his paternal grandparents, William Smith and Raymond and Haleen MacDougal; his Uncle and Aunt, Arthur and Honora “Honey” Carpenter; his Aunt, Dianne Barrows and his cousin-in-law and good friend, George “Bucky” Sweatt.
There will be no calling hours. A graveside service will be held 11:00 AM, Tuesday, June 27, 2017 at the Lewis Cemetery in Lewis.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 7521 Court Street, Elizabethtown.
