ELIZABETHTOWN
Sheila D. Richer of Cutting Road, Elizabethtown died Monday, October 28, 2013 at the Elizabethtown Community Hospital. Sheila was born on March 22, 1940 in Elizabethtown, New York the daughter of John and Elaine (Marvin) Denton.
Shelia graduated from Elizabethtown-Lewis Central School on June 20th, 1958 and then from Albany Business College on June 27th, 1959. She retired June 25th, 1995 from the Essex County Department of Mental Health.
On June 17, 1993 Sheila married Joseph (Hervie) Richer in Elizabethtown, NY where they resided together.
Sheila enjoyed collecting salt & pepper shakers, doing needlepoint, knitting, camping, reading, cooking (especially her famous scalloped potatoes), playing bingo and going to Saratoga with friends. Most of all She enjoyed spending her time with family and friends.
She is survived by her Brother and Sister in law Steve and Marcella(Hurley)Denton; four Stepdaughters, Mary Richer of Tupper Lake, Marilyn(Charles) Benware of South Glens Falls, Elizabeth (Mark) Forsell and Ceci Bush of Long Lake; Nieces Tammy(Bob) Sawyer, Anita(Stephen) Hall as well as Nephew Stephen (Suzanne)Denton. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Bridget and Heather Benware, Kathryn and Jennifer Forsell, Amanda (Michael) Forsell Prezbindowski, Hanna and Ethan Bush and five great-nephews Dustin Sawyer, Ian Hall, Zachary, Owen and Caleb Denton. She is also survived by her best companion and loyal friend, her dog, Sammie.
She was predeceased by her parents, her husband, son-in-law Randy Bush and Step-daughter Johanna Richer.
Per Sheila’s wishes there will be no calling hours. A private burial will be at the convenience of the family. Memorial donations can be made in her memory to the Elizabethtown/Lewis Emergency Squad, Elizabethtown Community Hospital Nursing Unit, or Hospice of the North Country.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Heald Funeral Home, 48 Court Street, Plattsburgh.
